Missing or gapped teeth can lead to feelings of insecurities and low self-esteem. At Marc A. Minch, DMD, our goal is to help you look and feel your best with a smile that stands out! Today, porcelain bridges remain a popular choice to replace missing teeth. Just as the name suggests, the goal is to “bridge” the gap between the spaces in your smile. This dental restoration is resilient, natural-looking and easy to care for. Learn more about porcelain bridges to see if this treatment is the perfect fit for you!

What Are Porcelain Bridges?

Dental porcelain bridges are able to replace a single missing tooth or a row of missing teeth. Our team will create the bridges to match your natural teeth before placing them in their designated spots in your mouth. The two different parts that make up a porcelain bridge are:

Implants on either side of the gap, which act like anchors.

Artificial teeth that fill the gap, which are attached to the abutment.

Our practice ensures that these are custom-made to fit your mouth and are designed to look like natural teeth to restore both their function and appearance. There are four types of dental bridges, and depending on your case, Dr. Minch or Dr. Newton will go over the options and discuss which will be the best fit for you:

This is the most common type. It consists of a pontic held in place by dental crowns cemented onto each of the abutment teeth.

This porcelain framework uses wings in place of crowns on each side, which are bonded to the back of the adjacent teeth. This method is most commonly used to replace front teeth.

This is similar to a traditional bridge, but the artificial tooth (pontic) is situated by a dental crown that is cemented only on one side of the missing tooth or teeth.

This strategy uses dental implants instead of crowns or winged framework. An implant is placed for every missing tooth, and these implants hold the bridge in position.

Reasons To Get Porcelain Bridges

After you lose teeth, they can help maintain the shape of your face, prevent other remaining teeth from drifting and restore the ability to chew and speak properly. Here are a few other reasons we may suggest a bridge for you:

A porcelain bridge may replace the gap in between your teeth, helping you eat and speak normally again.

Our goal at Marc A. Minch, DMD is to deliver a smile you can be proud of. Our porcelain bridges are tailored to blend in seamlessly with the rest of your teeth for a natural-looking appearance.

Missing teeth may alter the function of your jaw and bite. By placing a dental bridge, it can enhance your oral function.

It can help reduce the risk of oral health issues like tooth decay or gum disease that are often linked to missing teeth.

Benefits of Porcelain Bridges

Porcelain bridges are a popular choice to replace missing teeth because they offer numerous benefits including:

They are tailor-made to fit your mouth precisely, ensuring a comfortable fit and proper function.
Porcelain closely mimics the appearance of natural teeth, providing a more natural look.

The materials used are strong and durable and are able to withstand the forces of biting and chewing, and as long as you take excellent care of them, they can last for several years.

They are easy to care for, and now that you have the proper alignment, your teeth are less likely to shift and cause bite problems.

We strive to make treatment affordable for you and your family. We are transparent about the costs of your treatment and will discuss all the options with you beforehand.
