Unlike traditional braces, clear aligners are manufactured using smooth, comfortable plastic designed to fit snugly over your teeth and gently move them into alignment. This unique approach makes appliances like Invisalign®, Spark™ Clear Aligners and CandidPro™ an attractive option for teens and adults looking to improve their smile without the appearance of brackets and wires.

About Invisalign®

If you are an adult who had orthodontic treatment in your teenage years, chances are your teeth have moved or shifted out of alignment. This can happen if you stop wearing your retainers consistently. It is also normal for teeth to shift as we age, which can lead to bite problems, frequent chipping or even cracking of teeth. Clear aligner treatment allows Dr. Marc A. Minch or Dr. Emily Newton to gradually move your teeth back into the proper positions so they fit well together and your bite becomes balanced.

Our iTero Digital Scanner

At Marc A. Minch, DMD, we are excited to provide a revolutionary way to capture detailed and precise images of your teeth. While the impressions of old used large trays and messy impression material to create a mold of the teeth, modern advancements in technology have offered a new approach. We use a tool, known as the iTero Digital Scanner, to make a digital impression of your teeth and gums. These digital images are compiled using hundreds of thousands of data points that are captured with a handheld wand that gently scans each surface of each tooth. The images are immediately transferred to the computer so you can see your digital impression being made in real time. The iTero Digital Scanner is an essential part of making precision, custom aligners for the Invisalign® process.

The Benefits of clear Aligners

With no metal brackets or wires, clear aligners offer a modern approach to straightening teeth that is flexible and fits in easily with active lifestyles, making it an appealing choice for many adults and teens alike. Here are some of the reasons our patients love working with clear aligners:

They are made of smooth, clear plastic, making them virtually invisible. This is particularly beneficial for adults who may feel self-conscious about wearing metal braces in professional or social settings.

Using the latest technology in orthodontics with detailed digital scans, your aligners are custom-made to fit the unique contours of your teeth. This level of precision offers a more effective treatment and greater comfort.

Since they are removable, patients can continue to eat their favorite foods without worrying about damaging their braces or getting food stuck in brackets.

Since you can take the trays out when you need to, maintaining oral hygiene is made simple, allowing you to brush and floss normally.

Using advanced 3D imaging and computer technology, Dr. Minch will create a precise treatment plan that includes sets of aligners you will wear in sequential order to gradually move the teeth into alignment. In many cases, patients find that treatment is finished within 12 to 18 months.

Straight teeth are healthy teeth! When they are properly aligned, they are easier to clean and care for, and the risk of decay and gum disease is decreased.

A Step-By-Step Overview of How The Clear Aligner System Works

Clear aligners are an effective and easy choice for orthodontic treatment that uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten teeth. Here’s how the process works, from the initial consultation to the final result:

Dr. Minch or Dr. Newton will examine your teeth and gums and discuss your goals and expectations to help determine if this treatment is right for you.

Our team will then use an advanced 3D digital scanning technology, known as the iTero Digital Scanner, to create a detailed and accurate model of your teeth. The scanner captures high-resolution images, which are used to map out the precise movements required to align your teeth over time.

Based on the digital treatment plan, a series of custom-made aligners are made. Each set of aligners is slightly different from the previous one, designed to move the teeth closer to the desired positions.

Patients wear each set of aligners for about 20 to 22 hours a day, removing them only for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing. Every one to two weeks, the patient switches to the next set of trays in the series, which continues to move the teeth closer to their final position.

Once the treatment is complete, patients receive a set of retainers to maintain the new alignment of their teeth and prevent them from shifting back to their original position.
